Entering into a long distance relationship and carrying the sort of romance that you can expect in a relationship where you are both physically in the same place can be a daunting task. The first thing that you need to do is to ensure that you have a time frame within which you plan to end this distance either by shifting your partner to the city f your location, or either or coming back or quitting altogether. Ensure that you have a free and fair discussion with your partner and get his/her point of view. Ensure the decision is mutual.

Another aspect that you need to decide yourself is whether you are ready to live alone and still be able to do justice to your relationship. Have you ever fallen for another person even when you and your partner are in the same city? If the answer is yes then you might not be able to do justice to this long distance romance.

Use an effective plan to communicate as much as you can and as often as you can. Get a cheaper rate for long distance calls on your cell from your existing carrier or try other carriers for a better rate. Your partner may need to speak to you for longer duration when you are away. Be prepared to spend the time on the phone. If you are busy for some reason and cannot talk ensure that you convey the message to your partner and schedule a time later on to speak.

If possible try to spend some together when mutual convenience permits. Once every 2 months may be on a week end just be with each other with nothing else disturbing you. Although you might be speaking on the phone and is spending a time on video and other chats, physical touch and smell is something that is indispensable.

Trust is an important thing to keep in mind in long distance romance. When you cannot see your voice and your reassurances on the phone is all that is there for your partner. Make sure that you live up to your partner’s expectations and trust.

Ensure that you don’t have to hear into negative comments from others that long distance romance cannot work. Never give into these sorts of thoughts. In spite of the fact there might be some difficulties and even characters flaws that may creep into your relationship, work hard to make it work.
